Hello All,
You might be thinking - how this all started. Well, I was let go last Friday, and needed to get back in the game right away, rather than mope around the house. So, the idea came from a few years ago when I spent the better part of one summer working for one older lady. Painting, cleaning, scrubbing, gardening, etc., etc., etc. With a serious lack of young people to help around, and a growing number of Baby Boomers looking for a hand with small jobs, I thought the business idea would have a chance. I might not get just one person to hire me all summer, but if many people had small jobs for me, I should stay busy all summer.
So, with my hippy coloured sandwich board, Canada themed hard hat, and thousands of flyers I set off to promote both my little businesses: "The Boy Next Door Ottawa", and my photo business "The Darkroom Cafe". At the Great Glebe Garage Sale I walked from 8:15 AM till 3:30 PM handing out flyers, and looking for work.
Sunday, no calls... Monday 3 calls. So, it looks like I have work for the rest of the week!
This has been a great learning experience, and meeting interesting people along the way has been wonderful.
